Add the blood orange puree and continuously mix until the mixture thickens.&nbsp; Remove the saucepan from the stove, then add butter and mix until the texture is smooth.&nbsp; Place the Blood Orange Curd in a bowl and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Set-up the double boiler: heat the water on low heat to simmer but not boil.&nbsp; In the top of the double boiler, beat whole eggs with sugar until they triple in volume for 10-15 minutes.&nbsp; We use an electric hand mixer, and we first start at low speed, then progress to the medium setting.&nbsp; The eggs are beaten sufficiently once the ribbon retains its shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In a large bowl, gently combine the egg-sugar mixture with the sifted flour.&nbsp; Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the cake mixture evenly.&nbsp; Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the cake for 15 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool down completely.&nbsp;
