The national forests and nature reserves of Costa Rica are natural habitats for thousands of species of plants.  The wet season is an interesting time to observe the native plant species, variety of trees, blooming flowers and remarkable butterflies.  In the Guanacaste region, we photograph the Monarch Butterfly, a butterfly species that migrates to the region from North America.  We spot the butterfly on a branch of flowers, featuring its distinctive orange wings and black edges.  Exploring the forests, we observe a variety of trees and tropical plants, including the bromeliad defined by colorful leaves and flowers.

The Buttercup Tree is a tropical tree native to Central and South America.  We photograph the buttercup tree seeds contained within white fibers inside brown bulbs.  The Gumbo Limbo Tree, prevalent in the region, has a red-brown peeling bark on top and a green layer underneath.  The Pochote Tree, commonly found along the Pacific coast in the Guanacaste Province, has a trunk and branches covered with sharp thorns.  The pristine wilderness of Costa Rica enables a diverse flora to flourish.  Costa Rica, a land of a vibrant tropical flora, has myriads of towering rainforest trees and blossoming plants waiting to be discovered.
